Holy Joe

Just back in from this year's Christmas show at Oakgrove Primary School. The children performed 'Holy Joe' a musical retelling of Matthew and Luke's nativity stories giving a special place to Joseph. What a fine performance from the children. We has strong performances from Joe and Mary, the shepherds and wise guys and a whole school choir who raised the roof.  It was melodic, happy, funny, moving and well, just enjoyable. Really, well done one and all. The staff did alright as well...

A day on, and after attending many such plays, musicals and shows I wonder at the persistence of the nativity story and its power. Like a pop up shop it reappears - in the face of skepticism, cynicism and even common sense. Hmm......
